Don has been the director of KSNPC since August 1998. Prior to this position, he worked for the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet, beginning in 1985 in the Office of General Counsel.
Don earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky in 1978 and a law degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C., in 1981. Environmental law was his intended career and he is enjoying this current phase of his professional life, working with KSNPC to protect the best natural areas and native biodiversity of our wonderful state.
As director, Don is the chief administrative officer for the commission and works with the staff to set goals and policy to achieve our statutory mission. He is also currently serving as a Southeast U.S. Section Council representative to NatureServe, the umbrella organization for the Natural Heritage Program.
