Brainard has been with the commission since 1985 and has served as the agency's terrestrial vertebrate zoologist (covering primarily amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals) since 1988. He received a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Master of Science in zoology from the University of Louisville. Brainard also coordinates KSNPC's environmental review responses, and in his spare time, serves as the commission's recycling program coordinator.
